This extremely well preserved large Ukyo-e ( woodblock print) by world renowned Japanese artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi
is in remarkable condition for its age. Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) is regarded as the world's best ukyo-e artist.
The art of ukyo-e (woodblock printing) started in the 17th century and fell out of fashion during the 19th century when modern printing methods were introduced.
This work is from the " Thirty Two Aspects of Customs and Manners" series
True to form it has 2 titles.
